Details are over at http://eveoganda.blogspot.com/p/deathrace-2013.html
Should I be able to block out enough time, I too plan to join the race. Being that this is very last minute, my choices of ship are going to be limited. I don't plan on winning anything, but the experience itself will be more fun than watching the exit.
I wonder if I should update my clone...

Dumping the hitchiker
I was woken up by my phone bleating a txt message from Slade to come help collapse the static. Turns out our guest was had scanned the exit just before Slade could and was out in hisec. When she came back in Slade was waiting for her in a thorax specially fitted to take care of her.
Popped and podded, we quickly set to collapsing the static before he got back. Slade had already made a few trips through in a battleship, so my mass calculations were a bit off when I shoved the orca through - jumping back left Slade stranded in hisec. Just in time too, not a minute after the exit vanished Lawrabeth was back in the hisec system with another heron, only to find the wormhole was gone. Probed out the new exit for Slade to come back home and stowed everything - we had 3 other exits open at the time.
I then promptly logged and took a nap.
Notes: Lawrabeth had never attempted to contact us, her only words in local were 'Ransom?' when her first heron was killed earlier in the week from a helpful person from an incoming C2 (They were nice enough to combat probe her out before I could, so I just watched dscan).
If you're in our system for a week and don't talk or mail any of us, we presume you are hostile and will be dealt with accordingly.

Cake day
Today marks 4 years that I've been a member of TEMT, about a month after I first started playing Eve.

Rats in the cellar
It's been relatively quiet in here, despite RL issues keeping me busy.
It appears we have picked up a hitchhiker though, we keep seeing a Heron belonging to a 1 year old player lurking about. Couple days ago he was probing in a safe spot and an incoming C2 spewed out a couple of ships that combat probes him and popped him.
Turns out he came back in yet another heron...too bad the executioner didn't pod him. We will assume any connections have been opened for the meantime, until he gets either bored or we manage to pod him and collapse the static.
Although...he's gotten smarter and cloaks up while scanning, after getting his first heron got shot up.

System upgrades
I went out and purchased a 250GB SSD for my main rig and installed Windows 8 on it. I'm liking it so far, as task manager and copy files tool has more detailed info, as well the system is really snappy thanks to the SSD. That being said, my old 500GB Win7 system drive was freed up, I shifted stuff around - and finally got around to setting up the DLNA server in the router+external drive for media files - means I can finally get some redundancy on my data drive. Both previously existing drives were 500GB, so...
Next step is to build a proper NAS for backup/iSCSI operations.

BB #44 - The Local Channel
Here's my take on the supposed 'Local issue'
I don't care.
I'm used to having the delayed local in a wormhole, in hisec I tend to ignore local entirely. To be honest, I don't really care about local in nullsec, and being that I don't live in nullsec, my opinions shouldn't matter enough to affect nullsec residents.
On the other hamd, it would be kinda nifty to be able to use the System Scanning Array module that was removed before I started playing, but is still available on the markets. Have that anchored at a tower and BAM you have fully funtioning local.

The Love Spa Returns!
Over the weekend a couple things happened to bring some much needed change in our home.
First we finally took out the last Interbus POCO at Planet 5, yes it was dangerous since our static was open, but nobody came to visit us while we did so. That in itself will save money from taxes.
Second, we upgraded the medium domination tower to a large Minmitar tower - fuel costs will go up, but Frank is starting to make boosters and we just didn't have the grid or cpu needed without offlineing an alarming number of defenses. The medium faction tower has always worn a 'kick me' sign anyway, so it's less stressful in the long run. We'll also be able to partake in some T2 ship manufacturing as well, and have additional labs if needed.

Jhared's space hardware - nemesis
For sneaking up on unsuspecting miners and hauler, nothing beats a stealth bomber. The lack of recalibration delay definately helps again those are who are actually on the ball and watching for dangers.
Nemesis -
Lows-
Cross-linked Bolt Array I
Ballistic Control System I
Mids-
Warp Disruptor II
Target Painter - Partial Weapon Navigation
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
Medium Subroutine Screen Stabilizer I
Highs-
3x Upgraded 'Malkuth' Torpedo Launcher - Inferno Torpedo
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Core Probe Launcher I - core probes - offline
Rigs-
Small Ancillary Current Router I
This was tossed together out of whatever spare parts I could jam on it, and it's a _very_ tight fit, I have 0.8 cpu left over. I could upgrade the meta items perhaps, but until it pops there's no real need. The shield extender is for fragile hulls that attempt to shoot back, and it has the dual points specifically for warp stabbed opponents. Or in lucky cases, when I can point 2 ships/pods at once, like in this happy scenario -
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=12372426 Mammoth
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=12372425 Covetor mining
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=12372424 pod 1
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=12372423 pod 2
Never heard back from those guys...
Any suggestions on the fit would be appreciated.

Jhared's space hardware
Scattered from time to time I see others posting about what they fly, so I'm going to occasionally post a tidbit here and there with what I fly, and the fittings. Comments , critiques, and suggestions are welcome.
We will start with one of my oldest ships still in service, the Myrmidon. As I was still less than a year old, being able to fit T2 tank/guns felt powerful at the time.
Myrmidon -
High slot-
6x 425mm Autocannon II
Mid slot -
3x Cap Recharger II
1x 10MN Microwarpdrive I
1x Stasis Webifier I
Low slot -
1x Damage Control II
1x Armor Thermic Hardener II
1x Armor Kinetic Hardener II
1x Armor Explosive Hardener II
1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
1x Medium Armor Repairer II
Rigs -
1x Medium Projectile Collision Accelerator I
1x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
1x Medium Projectile Metastasis Adjuster I
Drones -
16x Hobgoblin I
I have recently refit the Myrm to replace 1 gun with a salvager, and 1 cap recharger with a web for ninja salvaging anomolies where the wrecks are not mine. Otherwise it has remained pretty unchanged for the better part of 3 years.

Traffic and a project
Whee it was a busy busy day. First up, a vexor gas mining, it was a quick kill -
http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=15577536
A cloaked loki from Exhale. called me out on the kill - he was stalking the vexor and I got to it before he did. Not only that, but I picked up the gas it dropped with a hauler.
Then while I was at work this happened -
http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=15584347 - drake pilot ran a site and came back to salvage, suddenly bombers got to him before my esteemed leader could do so. Fortunately more explosions happened as 2 of said drake's corpmates decloaked and nabbed one of the bombers in return - http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=15584346
Getting home I did notice a tengu somewhere in system, updated PI and logged to catch some sleep.
On another note - I am starting a long term project that hopefully will see results in the next 2 years, a personal project as I'm not asking the rest of the corp to take up an undue burden.

Quick death
On my way to work I get a bit of news via text message on the phone -
Slade Fox :
Just got killed by bubble outside the pos
Slade Fox :
Just got killed by bubble outside the pos
Me:
Dammit I'm working
At least it was a cheap hauler :/
Slade Fox :
Yes. It was quite a surprise. They were maybe 300k off pos. They must have seen me leave and waited.
Me:
Interesting. Wonder if they'll setup camp
Slade Fox :
They're gone. Came from the k162 one jump from dodixie.
And the killmails -
I had logged an hour previously...at first I didn't realise his pod goo got flushed until I was able to check the killboard. A chance opportunity as we are careful when making planet goo runs. Wormhole life is still the most unpredictable in Eve, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Sudden activity
October was extremely quiet, no kills, and only 1 loss in lowsec. November promises to be a far more exciting month, with 5 kills + 1 pod only 4 days in. Slade has also reactivated our griefwatch killboard at http://temt.griefwatch.net/ - he was not happy with eve-kill.

http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=17848521 Frank nabbed an unfortunately empty hauler
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=17866769 This guy was sitting at planet 2 moon 1 as his buddy was attempting to run a site in a tempest - we wanted the tempest but he kept warping out to recharge shields maybe?
http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=17870642 This just happened while I was offline.
I haven't been too active due to a little thing known as Guildwars2, but as November seems to be getting busy I'll hopefully be able to get some more action.

The retriever that got away
Logged in well after hours today after seeing a single sleeper kill on the sensor net, retriever mining arkonor. Bugger had stabs fitted, which is just as well since as he was leaving my futile attempts to point him, 2 drakes showed up. I really don't think my proteus can take on 2 drakes at the same time, so it's just as well.
Bugger. Scanning quickly removes dead signatures and brings up....4 exits. Let's see where they lead. First up is our regular hisec, since I don't know who is in system I'll pass on seeing where we are. Second looks like an incoming C2 after consulting the databanks Penny provided. The third signature has seemingly expired or collapsed by the time I warp in to get a visual, which leaves the fourth as our static C4.
It seems we have neighbors in the C2 who want to mine - seeing that I'm the only one on, I'll just head back to the tower and settle in for some sleep.

The Procurer is a tough nugget
We've had a busy day today. Slade killed a navy megathron and a retriever shortly before I logged in. Strangely a procurer from the same corp as the mega started mining, we figured it was a trap. Frank checked the hisec side, the mega's corp had a badger mk2 sitting outside of the exit.
I waited till the procurer dropped a can, bookmarked it and ran willy nilly off to the tower for a cheap ship to commence battle. Now the procurer had left a sleeper in the site as it could permatank it with ease, so a bomber wouldn't work.....hmm refit here and there and grabbed my old standby myrmidon.
Warped in, got a point on the barge, popped his can and the sleeper wrecks he left (salvaged one of them) and started dropping rounds into his shields. Getting through armor and Frank piped up that a slepnier and drake from the pilots corp showed up on the hole. Slade saw them come inside, and they started warp to my location as the last sliver of hull vaporized from the barge.
Both hostiles landed just as I entered warp, maybe half a second too late to point me. That is quite the adrenalin rush, and my first actual kill in ages. 20k damage, that barge is a tough one.
Soon after, both hostiles left, and an unrelated anathema and hurricane came in to presumeably scout.
