impromptu lesson for newbies

Yesterday we had an incoming C2 connection, low activity there led to throwing caution to the wind and running 2 mag sites.  When the connection went EOL we forcibly despawned the last mag site by tampering with the cans, as well as spawned the rest of the signatures and anomolies.

Today log in and find a horde of newbie ships mining.  Bossman logged in soon afterwards, brought out the phobos and popped and podded 4 of them.   After that lesson in watching dscan I told them I would no longer shoot them, and let them evac or mine as they pleased.

Still need to update bookmarks with today's signatures...

Update on the Industrial corp - they moved out after less than a week in the wormhole, I wish them luck with their current wardec and continued adventures in New Eden.

Happy Holidays

In the spirit of the holidays, I will be giving 1 lucky winner of the J132024 Surprise Ship Loss a full isk reimbursement of the vessel they were flying at the time of loss.

Crash and burn, the wormhole learning curve is rather steep

We had an industrial corp move in while we were offline.   Seems they are hiding from the hisec wardec, but holy crap they are green.

Within the first day, they have lost 2 drakes, armageddon, hulk, retriever, 3 pods to WH hunters.  Hopefully they will learn the use of dscan, and proper exit management.

I'm hopeful that they will start being careful to mitigate losses, we will see what the next 24 hours brings.

POS setups - short bus edition

We have a C3 exit today, somewhat active system.  Furthest planet, about the worst pos setup I have seen so far...

quick market trip

Took advantage of an exit near a trade hub to unload some loot - several piles of fullerene gas, tags, and 700mil in nanoribbons.  I used this opportunity to grab 2 full loads of heavy water and liquid ozone to tide us over until the fuel block switchover. (apparently it was delayed due to millions of tower dying horrible deaths when they tested it).

I also brought in components to build 2 customs office gantries, and purchased an oracle to help take down the existing Interbus customs offices.  I dare say I like to lines of both the oracle and the talos.

We will wait until a convenient exit opens up so we can manufacture the gantries before we blow the old ones up.

Our friend R is still on track to gathering the initial materials for a polymer reaction tower, having someone with an alliance backing them could be a change of pace in our little system, as we will have batphone access in case of emergency.

R expects to make almost 2 billion isk a month profit running reactions fulltime, however from the volume of materials needed to be snuck into the wormhole, logistics could get tricky, especially if someone notices movement of valuable materils.

The removal of jump api info has had less of an impact than I initially feared, that or I'm getting reckless and not hiding cloaked in the tower unless I know both exits are clear.

Cleaning the home system

We've let anomolies build up again, after checking to make sure both statics remained closed, we proceeded to run 8 sites - home was getting a bit messy.

We managed 12 nanoribbons from the sites we ran, not too bad, and the system is much cleaner now.

Occasionally inattention catches you

The Boss was gas harvesting in the static C4 in a thorax, got jumped by a gang of WH hunters.  The pod loss was just under 160mil isk (ouch, but could be worse).  We did not know if they were from the C4 connection or had entered through our hisec static, we decided to halt activities and just watch for a couple of hours till it was time to log.

Next morning I noticed that the system had already been loaded when I logged in just a few hours after downtime - as I was the first one to login for the corp that means we have had visitors.  Still I checked fuel levels on the towers and then logged off for work.   We have 3 weeks of fuel blocks for both towers, I will need to pickup more heavy water and ozone to finish off the 1 mil units of isotopes I had stocked up on.

The fuel switchover is slated for January 24th, a pity as that means there is less of a chance to jump offline towers for those who are unable to procure or produce blocks in time.  Ahh well such is life.

quiet gas harvesting

Still working out the particulars with corp bookmarks.  Thus far I am absolutely in love with the changes Crucible has brought.   Despite the lack of jump info anymore, I felt reckless and proceeded to clear out 3 ladar sites of gas, it will take a while to build up stocks for reactions.

I'll hopefully be able to run some combat anomolies this weekend.  We are planning on switching the tower over from Gallente to Minmitar sometime Saturday, logistics for that should be interesting, seeing as Slade and I are unable to pilot some of the ships in the hanger.

One line noticed

This caught my eye perusing the patch notes for tomorrow -

EVE API
  • The Jumps API no longer shows jumps into wormhole space.

Now this, will make intelligence gathering more difficult if it means what I think it does.  Since the first thing I do when exploring someone else's wormhole system is pull up dotlan and wormnav to check activity levels, including jumps.  Checking jumps in system is also a vital tool we use to catch poachers when we are busy with doing things out of Eve, as pulling dotlan up on your phone is a simple way to make sure things stay quiet.

I suspect this will make wormholes that much more dangerous to intruders and residents alike, as it will be harder to gauge activity levels and hours of operation.

Perhaps popping out a probe on the hour every hour to check for new wormhole signatures will become the norm?  The unfortunate thing is people transiting through the wormhole without poaching any sites will possibly remain unknown to us, diminishing the change of nabbing a target.

By now the grav sites have all despawned, this morning brings a bevy of goodies, 2 incoming C2 connections, 1 hisec incoming, and the usual outgoing C4 and hisec.  Slade killed a myrmidon belonging to one of the C2 inhabitants running a site in our hole - I guess it's more fun to poach sites in someone else's hole rather than clear them in your own.

In case you come across them, J125927 has several small towers waiting to be plundered.

Nothing new at home today, other than those 4 grav sites that refuse to despawn.  Our fearless leader did catch a pair in one of the sites mining, a covetor and myrmidon attempting to shoot up the sleeper spawn.  He actually though the myrmidon might put up some resistance http://temt.eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11582261 but nope.

We are keeping the exits closed for now.  Once the expansion hits we will be taking advantage of the reduced reanchoring times on POS modules to swap the tower from Gallente to Minmitar - the continued interdiction against oxytopes has caused the prices to rise over 300% over the past 2 months, and there is no telling how long the Goons will be able to maintain it - we know most Goonswarm pilots have a touch of ADD, but then, so do I.

I am looking forward to the next hulkageddon, those tend to drive some amount of hisec miners into the 'safe' confines of wormholes, which I can then take advantage of.

2007....noobs?

So I wake up to find wrecks on dscan and 3 drakes.  I can't solo 3 drakes and I'm the only one on so I visit the sites they are running, make the appropriate wreck bookmarks, then sit in a safespot for the inevitable noctis to trundle in.

However no noctis shows up, and apparently they are only taking the sleeper tags?  Oh well might as well salvage - bring out the salvage dessie and start salvaging the first site while they are still (very slowly) going through the second.  Keeping watch on dscan for them at a distance short enough to let me know they are incoming, however I salvage the first site without interruption.

I visit site number two with my bomber to witness them taking the last of the tags and warping off, only to drop scan probes at the astonishing rate of 1 every minute.  They must be returning players - but they still aren't salvaging.  Salvage the second site with a close watch on dscan, and they leave.  Did they finally see me on dscan I wonder, and is a lone dessie enough to scare 3 drakes away...

We've lived here for over 2 years now, in this comfy little C2 system outside of known space.  I was but 4 weeks a pilot when my new corp pulled me into our first home, a class 1 wormhole system.

After a while we decided to move into a C2, and have lived a spartan but comfortable time there.  We have made friends, and a few enemies, and have had other corporations move in and eventually leave.

These are the stories of a bunch of slackers.
